Patrick Payne is coming to the Ideas on Tap to chat about his startup, QuickMobile.

Prior to QuickMobile, Patrick was founder and CEO of Mobile Operandi Communication which developed the “Mophone” mobile consumer social networking service before being sold to Vantage Point Venture Partners in 2006. Previous to this, he spent 5 years at Ericsson as Director of Mobile Internet based in Brussels, Belgium where he was responsible for marketing and sales, business development, mobile strategy, and external partnering. In 1989, Patrick co-founded Vancouver-based Memex Software which developed a digital TV management platform for global satellite broadcast systems notably DirecTV. While working at Distinctive Software during the late-80’s (now Electronic Arts Canada), Patrick created the original music for the video game Test Drive - which grew into the world’s best selling electronic computer racing game franchise.

Patrick serves as a founder and director of Wavefront AC the commercialization centre for accelerating the growth of British Columbia’ wireless companies and served on the board of directors of the Wireless Innovation Network of BC (WINBC) which helps to foster collaboration amongst early-stage wireless companies in Canada. He holds a BA from the University of British Columbia with a double major in Film & Television and Music.
