It has come to our attention that it would be a good idea to be environmentally conscious and allow people to show their digital ticket or email confirmation instead of a printed paper ticket. We will now be accepting digital proof or registration for admittance to the Commodore for Ideas on Tap. Please have your confirmation ready and loaded on your screen when you go to the door for entry. Please consider tweeting the following to try and get the message out. ”I’m saving paper and using a digital ticket for #ideasontap”
I just got back from meeting with the Commodore and they will be launching a new menu at Ideas on Tap, complete with share plates and platters for groups as well as indivdual appie plates too.
Also, the ‘Official’ Ideas on Tap After Party will be at Doolin’s Irish Pub just down the street at 654 Nelson Street (at Granville). The after party starts 8:30pm complete with live Celtic music by the Halifax Wharf Rats.

Sanjay Maharaj from Virtual Lockbox
Sanjay Maharaj is the President and Co-Founder of Virtual LockBox. When Sanjay first heard about the concept of Virtual LockBox, Sanjay knew he had found his passion and had to become part of it. Sanjay wanted to deliver a platform in which people can share their memories and connect with each other.
Sanjay attributes his entrepreneurial spirit to his father who built the largest sub construction company in Fiji. Sanjay’s first job dealt with sales and construction management. It was at that point that he realized that nothing in life is impossible.
In year 2000, Sanjay helped start-up what is now the world’s largest online building supplies vendor BuildDirect. It was there that he first met Jeff Booth- they became great friends and colleagues.
Sanjay is married to the love of his life and they are expecting their first child in September.
We have chosen the presenters that will each do a 60 second elevator pitch from the stage at the Commodore Ballroom at the June 11th Ideas on Tap. Full bios will be posted this weekend. Also, the body painted people have been cancelled and the ice sculpture is on order.

The Next Ideas on Tap is going to take place on Thursday June 11th, 2009at the Commodore Ballroom in downtown Vancouver starting at 5:30pm. The first 400 tickets are free!
The January 2009 Ideas on Tap photos have been added to Flickr. You can tell how packed the Yaletown Brewing Company was! We are talking about changing the venue for the next event which will happen in the spring. Thoughts?
Ron Moravek is sick. I don’t mean sick like when you are snowboarding and your buddy says “Dude, that was a sick jump!” He has a cold and will not be able to participate in the elevator pitch. However, Mary MacPherson from Sitemasher will be stepping in to take his place.

Jim Udall from QuickMobile
Ideas on Tap welcomes Jim Udall to tomorrow night’s event!
Jim is a co-founder and the Chief Technology Officer of QuickMobile, a Vancouver based start-up. He is a veteran of both the personal computer revolution as well as the Internet revolution, with a colourful career spanning over 30 years in high technology R&D. During this time, he has participated in five startups, of which two he personally co-founded.
Jim’s last startup venture was Vienna Systems, a pioneer in VoIP that was successfully acquired by Nokia in 1998. As part of this, Jim accepted the position of Chief Architect at the Nokia Mobile Phones Product Creation Centre in Vancouver with responsibility for leading the growth of the nascent site from 35 to over 400 people in less than four years. In this role, Jim led the drive to higher functionality mobile phones focusing on the delivery of media rich services in the mobile environment.
Jim serves as the Technology Director for the Vancouver-based Mobile MUSE Research Project, where he guides new media projects exploring the application of context, mobility, and rich media in enhancing social experiences. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, and has a broad range of technical expertise including operating system design, telecommunications (fixed and wireless), and data communications.

David Tedman from Brightkit
David Tedman is a partner and the operations manager at Invoke, an interactive agency in Vancouver. Starting out as a design and Web development shop, Invoke began creating tools for agencies to incorporate the power of social media in 2006.
In late 2008, Invoke launched its latest product, BrightKit. BrightKit, as quoted by Mashable; “is the ultimate Twitter toolkit.”
BrightKit was originally designed for agencies who manage multiple twitter accounts for their clients. It quickly became popular with agencies, but also news organizations, music labels, retail companies, and any business managing multiple twitter channels. Marketing BrightKit almost exclusively on twitter, it currently has almost 5000 users.
David has over 8 years experience managing various interactive and media projects, and has been a partner with Invoke since 2006. David received an Interactive Media degree from Vancouver Film School in 2002, after which he founded Novare Res, a multi-disciplinary design company, which eventually merged with Invoke in 2006. He speaks one language (well), picked the school of rock instead, didn’t write two New York Times bestsellers, and spends the rest of his time working with the most talented people two blocks east of Gastown.
